Located on the edge of Washford, and just a stones throw from Cleve Abbey, Monkscider House is a lovingly renovated home and bed and breakfast in the heart of Exmoor.
As its name suggests, it was once the site of a cider press, which was used by the monks of Cleve Abbey. Even though the cider press no longer resides in this beautiful cottage, it is a place of good cheer, and a warm welcome to all.
Delightfully furnished and styled, Monkscider House has two stunningly designed bedrooms to offer guests. Choose from the delicious double room, or a superb twin. Each one has a luxurious en-suite, styled in the romantic manner of the house.
The double room, which has a deliciously spacious country feel, has its own freestanding Victorian bath tub, and beamed ceilings throughout. While the twin room has a cute, cottage feel, a dressing room and a shower in its en-suite.
Children can be easily accommodated in the double bedroom with their parents, using additional beds, for which a ten pound supplement is charged per child: A maximum of two children can be accommodated in this manner.
Naturally both of these elegant rooms have superb facilities, including TV's, and a complimentary selection of hot beverages. Guests are invited to relax in the glorious sitting room with its log fire for toasting toes in front of on chilly days.
Breakfast in Monkscider House is a real feast! With delicacies and essentials supplied by only the best local producers, you will relish a fine breakfast served to you in the warm and convivial dining room.
The house and grounds are beautiful, and if you can bear to tear yourself away from them, there are lots of exciting things to experience in close proximity, such as; Dunster Castle, The Torre Cider Farm, Cleve Abbey, Exmoor National Park, The West Somerset Steam Railway and museum, and pony trekking at Doone Valley Trekking Centre.
